Looksmaxxing

Improving your appearance deliberately, and measuring it.

Looksmaxxing is the practice of improving your own appearance deliberately rather than incidentally, usually with some attempt to measure the result. The term comes from online forums and carries their vocabulary with it, but the practice underneath is ordinary. What is worth knowing is which half of it responds to effort. Skin, sleep, body composition, hair, grooming, dental work and posture all change measurably over weeks to months, and together they account for most of what a person can move. Bone proportions — jaw angle, orbital depth, eye spacing, the ratios between the facial thirds — are fixed in adults and do not respond to exercises, tongue posture or routines, whatever a given video claims. A tool that measures both without saying which is which is the main way people spend a year working on something that was never going to move.
